Almost everyone knows about the existence of bedbugs. There are about 40 thousand species of parasites. These insects live in a different environment: they can live both on land and in water. Some types of bedbugs are especially unpleasant, because they have the ability to fly. It also happens that you can meet an insect in a residential apartment and not even recognize it as a flying pest.

Can bed bugs fly

Only a few members of the Hemiptera have the ability to fly. One of these - a bed bug, can only float through the air if a mutation has occurred with its species. Prior to mutation, these bloodsuckers do not have wings. They use their sense of smell to search for food and hide near the source of food, move with the help of their paws. They have a flat body due to which they penetrate into housing without hindrance.

In some species, after evolution, elytra remained, which are difficult to see because of the pattern on the shell. But they lost the ability to fly.

Common types of bedbugs

A large number of bedbugs surround a person in different places and conditions. They can parasitize in the house, harm plantings or engage in activities that have nothing to do with people.

How exactly does a bug fly

Many fly slowly due to low maneuverability. Their wings serve to migrate across the area in search of food and favorable living conditions. Not all types of flying bugs use their flight capabilities, such as the Green bug, whose wing is difficult to see due to the pattern on the back. Actively use developed wings:

  • Triatomine bug;
  • Wand water strider;
  • Marble bug;
  • Gladysh.

Are flying bugs dangerous for humans?

In general, flying bugs do not pose a danger to humans. They appear only when the climate and weather conditions change. Green plantings are harmed; substances containing insecticides are often used to remove them. But the flying Triatomy bug should beware, it carries a danger to humans. With its bite, it carries the deadly Chagas disease. It lives mainly in South America, but is very rare in Russia.

Flying bedbugs in the apartment: how to deal with insects

Flying bugs begin to disturb people with the onset of warming, they harm plants in the garden and vegetable garden. The increase in their migration depends directly on the humid climate, their season ends in October.

They fly into housing in search of food and warmth, such neighbors cannot be avoided if the house is located next to a reservoir or park.

To prevent pests from entering your home:

  • install mosquito nets;
  • seal cracks in the house;
  • lay out a cloth soaked in vinegar;
  • carry out general cleaning;
  • purchase special traps;
  • use deterrents.

If these methods do not help, resort to the use of insecticides and the help of specialists.
