Ticks are considered dangerous pests. They carry infectious diseases and damage agriculture. However, there are ways to deal with them. Not every person knows about acaricidal treatment, what it is and why they take such measures.

What are acaricides

An experienced agronomist knows exactly what the treatment for ticks is called. Acaricidal treatment is considered a set of measures that can destroy ticks. Acaricides may consist of:

  • chlorinated hydrocarbons;
  • organophosphate compounds;
  • carbamates;
  • pyrethroids;
  • avermectins;
  • formamidines.

Pyrethroids are considered the safest. At the moment they are used more often than others. Some drugs can be purchased at gardening stores. Means for large-scale treatments are bought in specialized institutions.

Why are acaricidal treatments needed?

Tick treatment is carried out for 2 reasons:

  • they carry tick-borne encephalitis to humans, a dangerous infectious disease that affects the central nervous system. It is very important to prevent an increase in populations in public places;
  • some varieties attack plants, vegetables, berries. Pests bite through the leaves and suck out all the juice. As a result, photosynthesis is disrupted and the culture dies.

When ticks appear, they begin to fight them with the help of chemicals. On the plots, gardeners use folk remedies and biological products for prevention with a small number of parasites.

Where is anti-mite treatment of the site needed?

Carry out anti-mite treatment at cottages, gardens, parks, children's camps, sanatoriums. In public areas, this is done to prevent tick bites.

On plots and in gardens, crops are sprayed to preserve the crop. It is forbidden to carry out the procedure in wild forests to prevent the violation of the natural bio-balance.

When should acaricidal treatment of the territory be carried out?

Processing is carried out in parks, squares, cemeteries, gardens, kindergartens no later than March 20-25. This is due to the early activity of pests.

How to treat yourself for ticks

It is possible to carry out spraying on your own, subject to all the rules. This requires expensive equipment and protective equipment. The type of ticks and the effect of the selected drug are also taken into account. Usually the processing is carried out by specialists. However, if you wish, you can try to do the procedure yourself.

What personal protective equipment is needed

For processing you need:

  • spunbond jumpsuit;
  • protective glasses;
  • gloves;
  • respirator.

You can buy personal protective equipment at a hardware or agricultural store.

What drugs can be used

Effectively destroy ticks with insectoacaricide preparations. Before purchasing, you must read the instructions and make sure of the effect on ixodid ticks.

Preference is given to the 3rd and 4th hazard class. Better choice of drugs with active ingredient:

  • cypermethrin;
  • alphacypermethrin;
  • zetacypermethrin.

How is the area treated?

A few recommendations:

  • study the area to determine the presence and number of pests;
  • establish a type of tick to pick up a remedy;
  • carry out the procedure;
  • leave the territory for 3-5 days;
  • evaluate the work done;
  • repeat if necessary.

How is the quality of processing controlled?

Despite the indicated action of the drugs for 45 days, they can be washed away by rains.

ReprocessingTo this end, the processing is repeated. The Chief State Sanitary Doctor has established a regulation for monitoring the activities carried out.
Flag MethodThis is possible with the "flag" method. It consists in applying a white fleecy fiber (based on waffle or flannel fabric) to the vegetation.
Processing by designThe design can be compared to a flag. Every 50 flag steps, the remaining pests are checked. Efficient processing implies no more than ½ individuals at a distance of 1 km traveled.
Mode of applicationTicks cling to hard tissue and can be easily seen. If the remaining individuals are exceeded, the procedure must be repeated. Preventive measures also include vaccination against encephalitis.

How often should anti-mite treatment of the territory be carried out

The frequency of acaricidal treatment is influenced by the applied preventive measures. These include cleaning, regular mowing and grass removal. In the spring, the procedure is carried out in May-June, and in the fall - in August-September. These periods fall at the peak of tick activity. Manipulations in recreation areas and gardens are carried out 2 times a year.

Safety of drugs for the destruction of ticks

Each weave is entitled to 1 liter of solution. The content of cypermethrin in 1 liter is 12 mg. In terms of 1 sq m, it is 0,03 mg. This dose can enter the body. The level of acceptable daily intake is 0,01 mg per 1 kg of body weight.

To exceed this figure, it is necessary to eat all the vegetables and berries from a plot of 20 square meters, which is virtually unrealistic.

First aid in case of insecticide ingestion

In case of contact with a chemical agent, it is necessary:

  1. Call an ambulance.
  2. Artificial gastric lavage.
  3. The victim should take smecta, enterosgel, activated charcoal to restore water-salt metabolism.
  4. Drink plenty of water and be at rest.
