There is one trick that is believed to have been acquired through evolution. When a bee has honey in its stomach, it does not bite.
To get honey from the hives, they let in a little smoke. This makes the bees collect as much honey as possible and makes them safe.
By the way, it is in this situation that they are very vulnerable. Hornets and some species of wasps like to attack bees to feast on sweet honey. And the honey insect cannot defend itself at this moment.
