Many are familiar with wasps, some even met closely, as a result of which they received battle wounds. Almost all wasps "on the same face" are outwardly similar to all representatives of the species.

Wasp size

Wasps are members of the large Hymenoptera family. The appearance of most representatives is the same - black and yellow stripes cover the entire abdomen. Sizes may vary depending on the species, from 1,5 to 10 cm.

Depending on the species, there are several large representatives. These are Asian hornets and scolia giants.

Hornets are a serious threat in a state of aggression when protecting their own home. Their bites are very painful and can cause allergies. There is information that there were deaths from a large number of Asian hornet bites that provoked anaphylactic shock. Therefore, in some sources they were called killer wasps.
Large scolia, despite their rather menacing appearance, are harmless to humans. They have much less poison than ordinary representatives. Moreover, these giant animals themselves prefer not to run into trouble and live away from people.

Wasps and people

A great danger to people is not certain types of wasps, but their number. Hornets and earth wasps attack when they feel danger to their family. Solitary wasps can only cause fatal harm to a person who has severe allergies.

What to do if bitten by a wasp:

  1. Inspect the site to assess the extent of the damage.
  2. Disinfect and apply a cold compress.
  3. Drink antihistamines or apply ointment.

Conclusion

The expression "small, but remote" fully describes the wasp. Very small individuals do a tremendous job of building, raising children and providing food for new generations.
