Where do flies come from in the apartment
There are only two options for events: either the insect got into the house on its own, or the visitor or tenant of the apartment brought fly eggs and larvae:
- in the first case, the penetration routes are: ventilation shafts, sewer pipes, cracks in the walls and floor, doors and windows;
- in the second - food contaminated with eggs, fruits and vegetables.
- favorable conditions for the appearance of Diptera in the dwelling are unsanitary conditions, high humidity and leftover food on the kitchen table.
Most often, people living on the first floors of houses suffer from flies, due to the proximity of the garbage chute, basement and heating systems.
Reproduction and development of flies in apartment conditions
At a suitable temperature and the above factors, the flies begin to multiply actively.
How flies hibernate in the house
In the cold season, it is not often necessary to see a fly in the house. Individuals that managed to appear in late autumn fall into a kind of hibernation, becoming inactive. They practically do not fly and crawl slowly. In a state of suspended animation, lasting about 5-6 months, are both adult insects and eggs with larvae.
Flies settle down for wintering in basements and semi-basements, balconies and loggias, door and wall cracks, between window frames and boards in the floor. In such secluded corners, they go unnoticed by people and pets.
Larvae and eggs spend the winter in withered foliage, manure or other organic matter in which they were deposited by the female. The heat produced by decaying substances does not allow the offspring to freeze, and the decay products serve as food for them.
With an increase in temperature values in the apartment, for example, when radiators are operating or heated by sunlight, individuals can wake up and fly around the room. Also, flies can get into a home in winter along with firewood bought for a fireplace, indoor flowers from a store, or fruits brought from the market.
How dangerous are flies in a house for a person
Neighborhood with Diptera parasites is a danger to humans. Insects, flying everywhere and sitting on garbage heaps, carry pathogens of infectious diseases on their paws. Children and the elderly are especially susceptible to them. Eating food contaminated with flies is fraught with:
- dysentery;
- helminthiasis;
- typhus;
- cholera;
- tuberculosis;
- diphtheria;
- tularemia;
- conjunctivitis;
- anthrax;
- brucellosis;
- infection;
- poisoning.
Often, these infections are difficult to treat. Therefore, insects found in the apartment are subject to immediate destruction.
Prevention of the appearance of parasites
To facilitate the fight against flies, appropriate preventive measures should be taken to reduce their population. First of all, in order to prevent the penetration of parasites into the room, you need:
- install mosquito nets on windows and front doors;
- close the ventilation holes with a grid;
- plant fly-repellent plants under the windows of private houses: wormwood, elderberry, tomatoes, geranium, basil and bird cherry;
- indoor flycatcher plants work well;
- traps-jars with bait and a narrow neck, sticky tapes;
- electric shock traps with aluminum wire wrapped and a light bulb connected to a power source.
In order not to condone the reproduction of insects in the apartment, it is necessary to keep the kitchen clean and take out the garbage in a timely manner, close the waste bucket with a lid, store food in the refrigerator and in sealed containers, and clean the drains of bathrooms after use.
